GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Serve as a clinical liaison for Midwest Spine & Brain Institute with external facilities, notably physician service agreement partners (PSA's) to foster and maintain synergistic relationships.
Take initiative and work independently, in a collaborative manner, within and across organizations.
Work together with the clinical staff, providers, and leadership to build and maintain a cohesive team within and across organizations.
Assist patients in understanding care plans and navigating their care.
Train and oversee clinical staff for process improvement at the point of care.
Provide support and direction for providers to develop, maintain and enhance quality of care and patient satisfaction to achieve expected successful outcomes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process: Develop, implement, monitor and amend quality improvement processes and programs, for the improvement of the quality of care, patient satisfaction and management of costs.
Committees: Participate in MSBI/PSA meetings with MSBI providers and administration.
Quality: Oversee quality initiatives and work collaboratively with MSBI Providers, Director of Clinical Services, Administrator and staff on quality improvement processes that enhance patient care and patient outcomes.
o Assist in matters of quality to include board related matters, facility and hospital related matters and those pertaining to the safety and quality of care.
o Ensure quality documentation is completed timely and in alignment with quality standards for MSBI.
o Prioritize quality matters while ensuring deadlines are met in a timely fashion.
o Work collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Services on quality concerns while keeping open communication.
Patients: Communicate with patients in person and via phone and/or patient portal regarding their clinical care. Answer patient questions, provide education, direction and support so they may understand their care options to make informed decisions for their care.
Patients & Staff: Support and manage a process that provides outstanding customer service by responding to patient concerns the same day.
Staff: Provide training and ongoing support to staff who provide patient education.
Process/Staff: Develop, implement and maintain orders based on condition specific protocols. Train staff to apply process in a consistent manner while building efficient and clear procedures for clinical staff.
Process: Work with providers to assure review of patients' prescription monitoring program (PMP) reports. Prepare and provide reports to providers of their controlled substance prescribing, to support them in the appropriate pain management of patients.
Process. Consistently evaluate clinical processes and work flow to identify opportunities for improvement.
Administrative: Assist in compliance with regulatory agencies (OSHA, Department of Health, DEA, etc.) and appropriate documentation and record keeping as it applies to the clinical staff and providers.
Administrative: Collaborate with team members, department team leads, supervisors, administration, and providers to develop department goals that are in alignment with company goals.
Specialty Areas: Assist with build of efficient workflows within the hospital systems to include rounding, orders, and other workflows as needed for services provided in the hospital.
Provider Call schedules: Oversight of provider call schedules, time off requests, and day to day needs.
Clinic: Oversight of Certified RNs in the clinic setting to assist with post operative patient needs, minor clinic procedures, and patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Current MN Registered Nurse license, BSN.
BLS certification.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a specialty environment.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a leadership role.
Experience with Next Gen and EPIC electronic health record systems.
Expertise and appropriate skill set in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Ability to understand, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Knowledge and application experience of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to successfully promote the organization.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions, and use of personal protective equipment to establish a safe work environment.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
Requires full range of body motion including hand and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires consistently good attendance.

Access to PHI (protected health information) including e-PHI (electronic protected health information), will be limited based on employee's job duties. Employees will follow Midwest Spine & Brain Institute's established HIPAA privacy and security policies regarding PHI.
