TITLE: Clinical Medical Assistant/LPN

Reports to: Clinical Manager
Position Summary: The primary role of the Medical Assistant is to support medical providers, patients and co-workers through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication in an accurate and timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs duties necessary to prepare patients for physician exam including:
- Vitals and lab tests
- Updating patient medical records in electronic medical record system
- Assists providers with procedures
- Maintains patient areas by daily sanitization and supply restocking
- Authorizes prescription refills as directed by providers
- Performs proper sanitization and sterilization of medical instruments
- Processes lab specimens obtained by providers
- Provides patient education as needed
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- Basic medical assistant skills such as
- Knowledge of HIPAA
- Knowledge of OSHA and Universal Precautions for blood borne pathogens
- Medical terminology
- Vital signs
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to type 35 wpm and have knowledge of EMR system and functionality
- Good verbal and written communication
- Punctual and self-disciplined
- Maintain CPR certification
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Frequent use of keyboard, computer and telephone requires hand and manual dexterity
- Heavy lifting may be required when assisting patients onto and off of the exam table, pushing patients in a wheelchair and lifting and carrying of supplies on a regular basis.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Clinical Medical Assistant, LPN or RN certification or license
- 1-2 years experience working as an Medical Assistant, LPN or RN
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
