CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

Ulster County Department of Health seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to work in its STD/HIV Clinic located at 239 Golden Hill Lane, Kingston, NY 12401. Clinic is open 1 day per week, on Monday evenings with patients arriving between the hours of 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Starting rate is $60.34/hr.

An incumbent in this class is responsible for providing professional laboratory services on patients at the Ulster County Health Department’s Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinics. An incumbent shall conduct laboratory services related to STD diseases. These Laboratory Services include but are not limited to, Pregnancy Urine Testing, Chem Strips Urine Testing, Wet Mounts with Potassium Hydroxide, Spun Microscopic to perform microscopic procedure for saline wet mounts, Potassium Hydroxide Testing, Centrifuged Urine Sediment for Microscopic Test Set Up, Phlebotomy and Quality Assurance for Clinical Laboratory Services. The work involves the exercise of independent judgment in providing laboratory services at the STD Clinics. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Staff Physician with leeway allowed for independent decision and under the general and administrative supervision of a Supervising Public Health Nurse. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department.

Special Requirement for appointment to Ulster County positions: Upon a conditional employment offer and in accordance with Ulster County Legislative Local Law Number 14 of 2007 or by other State and Federal Statutes, prospective candidates for employment to all Ulster County positions must obtain clearance for appointment from the Department of Criminal Justice System or other mandated Federal and State regulatory authorities. Such prospective candidates will be required to be fingerprinted accordingly.
