Summary 

Our client, a premiere academic medical center, has engaged GForce Life Sciences to provide a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. The Clinical Laboratory Technologist will perform routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using a variety of automated and manual instrumentation in a timely manner. The individual will also maintain equipment and records according to department procedures and regulatory agencies guidelines in the areas of QA and QC. Use independent judgement to solve technical and procedural problems.

Our client is hiring for the following laboratories: hematology, molecular, chemistry. Molecular laboratory position requires 1+ year of laboratory experience.

Duties / Expectations of Role 

·      Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, depending on procedure.

·      Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed

·      Review data prior to release

·      Report all panic, abnormal, etc. values

·      Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures

·      Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required

·      Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment

·      Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system, as necessary

·      May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for technicians

·      Assist with the training of new employees

·      Maintain clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines

·      Perform other laboratory related tasks under the direction of a supervisor as needed

Mandatory Requirements 

·      Bachelor’s degree required (physical science, medical technology preferred)

·      New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit are required. Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three months for continued employment.

Term & Start 

·      Direct Hire

·      Start Date: ASAP

·      Day Shift: 7am-3:30pm; Alternate weekends

·      $5,000 Sign on Bonus

·      Onsite: Bronx, New York

·      $85-100k Salary (subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.)

Available Shifts – Alternate Weekends Required

Chemistry Lab:

·      4pm- 12:30am EST

Hematology Lab:

• 7AM -3:30PM
• 11:30PM - 8AM

Molecular Lab:

• 9:30AM - 6PM
