Position Overview:
The clinical Laboratory Scientist performs laboratory analysis on clinical specimens using established laboratory procedures. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist duties will include but are not limited to; processing of specimens, performance of moderate and highly complex analytical testing, establishing, performing, and documenting Quality assurance, quality control, accurately documenting all work performed under the direction of the Laboratory manager.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Laboratory Manager in establishing workflow and Standard Operating Procedure in Microbiology.
- Performs pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phase testing of all complexities as defined by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act/Amendment (CLIA) to include specialized tests and analysis utilizing chemical and morphological examinations to obtain data for use in diagnosis and recording laboratory test results primarily in Microbiology (Bacteriology and Parasitology) and Mycology, but also perform testing in other disciplines including Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Serology, and Hematology.
- Read, interpret, work-up and report culture results for all areas of Aerobic and Anaerobic Bacteriology and Mycology including use of both automated and manual MIC and susceptibility methods; proficient in reading and interpreting stained smears; knowledge and ability to set-up and report molecular testing methodologies
- Upholds Shoreline Diagnostics’ Policies and Procedures in accordance with local, state, and laws.
- Participate in introduction of new assay configurations and validation, assay improvement initiatives.
- Performs and reports test results for all Clinical Laboratory procedures as assigned, both automated and manual, in the Clinical Laboratory department, without immediate review by the director, consultant, or supervisory team.
- Provides the highest level of patient care standards and maintains confidentiality on all tests performed by the laboratory.
- Demonstrates proficiency, competency and understanding of fundamental principles of Clinical Laboratory procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and test methods.
- Identifies and resolves unusual laboratory situations and notifies appropriate parties
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain quality control measures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain appropriate continuing education on advancements in laboratory techniques and technologies.
- Comply with safety and hazard regulations as outlined In the Clinical Laboratory safety manual.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as microbiology or Clinical Laboratory science; advanced degree preferred.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (California)
- High School Education or General Education Development (GED) required, and laboratory experience and training.
- 5 + years in Microbiology, CLS
- Proven experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members, researchers, and external stakeholders.

Pay: $46.84 - $55.00 per hour
