Job description

Reporting to the Director of Application and Support or designee, the Clinical Informatics Analyst, is a registered nurse or advance practice provider who reports to Information Systems representing nursing and clinician needs in advancing systems and technology to clinical staff.  Serves as a member of the IS department providing subject matter expertise to analysts by identifying or recommending revision of clinical systems, processes, and workflow to ensure achievement of positive patient outcomes. The Clinical Informatics Analyst will utilize knowledge, skills and experience in clinical practice and processes to determine best practice workflows in use of the clinical applications across the enterprise. The Clinical Informatics provides education and training to clinical staff and promotes system utilization. The Clinical Informatics develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the clinical and administrative departments to ensure optimal utilization of health system's clinical application. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

        Conduct current needs assessment, building specifications, implementation, testing and support for clinical information systems. Have knowledge to run reports from clinical systems to asses compliance or determine areas that may require additional end user training.

        Facilitate design of clinical workflow in conjunction with the end users (clinicians, nurses and administrative staff) to gain efficiencies, quality initiatives, and improves patient care through interaction with clinical information systems.

        Maps current and future state workflows.

        Reviews and approves training curriculums.

        Work collaboratively with Clinical Systems Analyst and Project Managers to translate end user needs into workflows that improve efficiencies, solve complex workflow issues and incorporate quality initiatives.

        Actively participates in team daily management and process improvement activities.

        Actively manages informatics needs: proactively identifying improvement opportunities for information technology requirements of the clinical areas served.

        Collaboratively perform unit, functional and integrated testing of the software to ensure that the design objectives are met, including the development and validation of testing scripts.

        Develop high degree of understanding of clinical departments' business processes.

        Occasionally conduct scheduled and ad hoc trainings for use of clinical systems using the curriculum developed and provided by IS.

        Maybe asked to complete additional tasks as assigned.

Education:                  

        College degree required. BS in Nursing preferred

Licensure/Certifications:         

        Current Registration in the State of NH as Registered Nurse or Advance Practice Provider

        Health Informatics Certificate preferred    

Experience:                

        Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge and training on major vendor clinical information system. Effective written, interpersonal, oral and presentation skills with all levels of staff from clinicians to support staff. Strong initiative; analytical problem solving effective organization, communication, and planning skills. Ability to gasp technical concepts and strong attention to detail.  

       Five or more years' informatics experience with at least 5 years' experience with Catholic Medical Center specific systems.
