Graduation from an approved National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS) school of Histotechnology -or- Associate's degree. Five years of Histology Technician experience to include two years of supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Histology Technician (HT) certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

- Ensures personnel are trained.
- Ensures competency assessments are completed according to guidelines.
- Coaches, counsels & writes performance evaluations as well as interviews candidates.
Ensures laboratory meets quality and productivity standards
- Ensures adequate quality control methods are implemented according to standard and addresses quality control issues.
- Ensures supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained to meet laboratory needs.
- Is a subject matter expert.
- Generates workload/productivity reports.
- Continually explores process improvement and efficiency.
- Provides high level technical skills.
- Coordinate new test/protocol development and oversee the development and maintenance of new policies and procedure documents.
Ensures Compliance/Customer Service
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory and safety standards and enforces policies and procedures.
- Manages customer service interactions and relationships with diplomacy and professionalism.
