Job Summary
Responsible for the identification, selection and placement of Social Work BSW, BSSUT and MSW students in in the appropriate field education settings. Serve as a Field Liaison to all SSW students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Match students with appropriate field placements based on availability, suitability for the student level (e.g., BSW, BSSUT or MSW) and specialty (e.g., Direct Practice, Mental Health), and student interest.
- Teach a 1:1:1 (one course each semester, Fall, Summer, Spring) as a Field Liaison.
- Advise students regarding field placement requirements and agency availability. This includes advising students in the undergraduate, graduate, distance, and online education programs.
- Confirm with BSW, BSSUT, MSW, distance and online program advisors that students have the courses and GPA required to enter field placement.
- Navigate UTA and Office of Field Education databases to complete student matches and placements in approved agencies.
- Communicate clearly with students, Field Liaisons and agency Field Instructors throughout the semester regarding placement questions and needs.
- Assist with review of agency applications, Field Instructor applications and scholarship applications.
- Assist with training and orientation of students, UTA Liaisons, and Field Instructors.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program or equivalent relevant experience.
- Two (2) years of work experience as a Social Worker.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of post graduate practice experience in Social Work with adolescents or adults.
- One year of supervisory experience in an institution of higher education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication with students, staff, colleagues, and field instructors and agency administrators.
- Ability to think critically and troubleshoot with students, Field Liaisons and Field Instructors in regards to internship problems
- Ability to resolve non-routine problems using acceptable business practices.
- Ability to make decisions with minimal supervision
- Skilled at being a team player and able to collaborate with internal and external clients, students and members of the UTA campus and the communities served
Other Requirements
- Tact, diplomacy and judgment in dealing with students, faculty and administrators.
- Excellent customer service skills.
