Clinical Documentation Supervisor (CDS)functions as providing support to the Manager(s) of Clinical Documentation Improvement program. Assists with follow up on processes assigned, second level review of accounts, managing day-to-day CDI operations, as well as creating processes for improvement and efficiency. They will work closely with team members to perform audits of their work and opportunities for education, as well as opportunities for Physician education. They will work closely with the Coding and Quality teams on initiatives as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform concurrent and retrospective tertiary level reviews on specific types of opportunities.
- Run and review reports through several sources and utilizing information to analyze data and key metrics to identify potential opportunities for CDI staff and physicians, strategize approach and process refinements to capture opportunity within the CDS team (prioritization, assignment, etc.), and track progress of CDI team in capturing opportunities and prioritizing workload effectively.
- Develop and oversee new hire training and orientation program for new CDSs.
- Track technology issues with process tools and coordinate with IS on updates.
- Track query escalation process, CDS/Coder collaboration, etc. Lead weekly huddles or monthly meetings for CDI and
- Coding teams.
- Provide feedback and educational growth opportunities for the overall CDI program.
- Provide feedback to physician advisor(s) on provider engagement/response.
- Support the creation and presentation of targeted physician education.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.Required.
- Bachelor'sDegree is required.
- Preferred Registered Nurse (RN) with Inpatient Clinical Experience (Pediatric experience is a plus)
- General knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology, reimbursement methodologies, coding guidelines, pharmacology and abbreviations.Extensive clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology; best demonstrated by clinical experience. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to review the medical record to identify information not yet documented but supported by clinical indicators or clinical clues.Knowledge of age-specific patient needs and the elements of disease processes and related procedures
- • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written, organizational, detail orientation. Ability to read physician documentation, good interpersonal skills; decision-making skills; professional courtesy and the ability to operate a PC and general office equipment.
- • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
- One of the certifications below are required:
- RN - Lic-Registered Nurses via the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact
- Or RHIA - Cert-Reg Health Inform. Admin vis the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Or RHIT - Cert-Reg Health Inform. TECH via the American Health Information Management Association
- Or CCS - Cert-Cert Coding Specialis via the American Health Information Management Association Or
- CPC - Cert-Cert Professional Codervia the America Association of Professional Coders

- $49/hr starting + benefits
