Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Liaison, you will be responsible for the interface between facility based Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists and the coding staff. You will work with all facilities to improve the accuracy, integrity and quality of patient data, to ensure minimal variation in coding practices and improve the quality of physician documentation within the body of the medical record to support code assignments.

What you will do in this role:

  • Work with all facilities to improve the accuracy, integrity and quality of patient data, to ensure minimal variation in coding practices and improve the quality of physician documentation within the body of the medical record to support code assignments.
  • Plan, assign and coordinate the communication and validation of correct coding; actively monitors facility CDI requests and responds to questions submitted.
  • Collaborate with Facility and Division CDI as applicable
  • Proactively manages facility CDI and HSC MS-DRG discrepancy request reviews (including corresponding communications, escalation paths and tracking/trending/comparison of data)
  • Reporting to HSC Leadership significant coding trends identified through the CDI process
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes impacting coding requirements
  • Coordinates training and education for coders and facility-based CDI staff when trends are identified
  • Manages expectations and ensures services are delivered accordingly

What you will need:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years health care management/leadership experience required
  • Minimum 5 years recent inpatient hospital coding experience required
  • RHIA, RHIT and/or CCS preferred
