Scope:
The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day testing of Clinical Chemistry fluid specimens. Maintains laboratory documentation in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and laws governing Clinical Chemistry testing. Supports work of Laboratory Operations and Chief Scientific Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tests Clinical Chemistry specimens and reports results in an accurate and timely manner by adhering to the laboratory’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provides technical laboratory support for all clinical and research efforts associated with scientific and commercial needs.
- Accurately conducts analysis/examination using validated methods and reporting of results.
- Properly uses and maintains Clinical Chemistry lab equipment, lab reagents and supplies, and calibrates equipment as/when necessary.
- Provides necessary support for smooth operation and delivery of Company’s Clinical Chemistry testing services.
- May train or oversee new Clinical Chemistry Laboratory Technologists.
- Assists in preparation for NYS and CAP inspections as assigned.
- Participates in identifying and making changes in process to improve quality of analyses.
- Handles special projects and other tasks as assigned.
- Participates in the maintenance of the Quality Management System and quality control program regarding all aspects of laboratory operations, ensuring the integrity of analytical testing and results. This includes preparing and updating SOPs, use of appropriate controls and QA of results.
- Performs duties in compliance w/ laboratory safety & infection control practices.
- Maintain competency through performance evaluation and proficiency testing.
Additional Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential scientific, regulatory, and administrative laboratory functions.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to write and disseminate laboratory information, reports, and processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with relevant computer programs including MS Word, Excel, Access and basic and/or specialized laboratory instrumentation software.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree and 1-2 years experience in Clinical Chemistry or other areas of medical technology is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
MT or MLT (ASCP) preferred

It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
