Job description

Position Purpose: The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing and implementing safe and effective patient care in a clinic setting by assisting providers in examination and treatment of patients.

 Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Position Specific Performance Expectations:

  • Record patients’ current status, past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation in preparation for provider visit in EMR.
  • Respects the confidentiality of patient records, and uses complete discretion when discussing patient information in accordance to HIPPA.
  • Utilizes all department forms and documents in EMRs appropriately.
  • Collect, label and transport all specimens appropriately.
  • Demonstrates proper techniques when setting up for procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency and routine equipment and procedures.
  • Collaborates with patient care planning. Actively participates in education specific to patient diagnosis and needs.
  • Assists providers with special tests and procedures.
  • Demonstrates an ability to start IVs and monitor IV fluids for correct rate.
  • Able to assess every patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness and other needs.
  • Accurately administers medication, performs treatment in accordance of standards of care. Translates medications into pediatric doses and use proper equipment for patient’s size and age.
  • Able to identify victims and the process for reporting abuse.
  • Maintains compliance within department, clinic and state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Record all phone interactions with patients in the EMR. Working knowledge of phone and phone etiquette.
  • Properly care for instruments i.e. cleaning, packaging, sterilizing as appropriate.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings.
  • Follows MRH policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness and participates in drills.
  • Acts as a resource person to other staff members.
  • Positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization.
  • Participates in process improvement teams or in interdepartmental efforts.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, families, providers and staff.
  • Complete workload as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Floats to other clinical departments as assigned.

Special Qualifications:

  • General Surgery Specialty: Wound Certification within six months of date of hire or transfer.
  • Breath Alcohol testing and Drug screen testing requires special training only personnel who have completed training shall perform these procedures.

  • Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes.
  • Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff and vendors.
  • Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time.
  • Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions).
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete employee health meeting.

 Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Unencumbered Colorado RN license or Compact License.
  • Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).

Experience:         

  •  One year clinic experience preferred.

 

Position Classification:   Non-exempt

Compensation Range:  $32.08 to $48.12
