Animal Friends' Clinic and Community ServicesExternship Program gives students the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience by taking what has been taught in a classroom and applying it in our clinic. Students in this program will work closely with our Veterinarians, Certified Veterinarian Technicians, Program Assistants and other staff as part of their experience.
The Clinic and Community ServicesExternship Program is based out of the Howard Ash Animal Wellness Center. Founded in 2017, this state-of -the-art facility offers a progressive High Quality High Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) program, Trap Neuter Vaccine Return (TNVR) services, general practical, dentistry, wellness appointments, various soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, and mobile surgical services. Our mission is to inspire a community where the animal-human bond is celebrated and nurtured by breaking down barriers and offering safety nets for limited-income pet owners. While working alongside the Clinic and Community Services team, externs will help families keep their pets healthy by ensuring compassionate and quality veterinary care.
This is a structured clinical training program that provides students with the experience to complete their veterinary technician education. Externs have many opportunities for participating in or observing advanced medical procedures and surgical techniques while interacting with staff who are excited to meet and mentor future veterinary professionals.
