Cleaner

Location of the job: Hammond, IN (Union)

C Shift:

3:00 pm to 11:00 pm (Tuesday – Saturday)

Hourly Pay Rate – $20.00 | paid weekly

Background & Purpose of the Job

Our Unilever Hammond, IN facility is the home of the Dove Beauty bar, one of Unilever's biggest brands and the largest soap factory within the US. Our Hammond facility is where we have been working to make beauty a source of confidence by manufacturing the different variations of the Dove beauty bar. By joining our Hammond team, you will join a globally recognized site, that is also famous for being able to produce a billion bars in one year.

The Cleaner is responsible for keeping the buildings, grounds, and production areas clean, neat, and in safe working condition. Assist with porter duties when required and maintain supplies in general locations.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

  • Perform all duties of the C Shift Cleaner which includes cleaning of facility bathrooms/locker rooms, cafeterias, break rooms, and conference rooms.

  • Removal and disposal of trash and recycling as needed.

  • Assist with cleaning and porter duties as directed.

  • Perform inventory, re-ordering and restocking of cleaning supplies.

  • When applicable, transport materials/equipment throughout all areas and buildings at the site by utilizing fork trucks and work savers as required.

  • Provide support as a vacation relief to the B Shift Cleaner and #1 Service Porter

  • Keeping work area clean utilizing good housekeeping techniques and 5S methods.

  • Participate in incident investigations associated with Near Hits and Safety/ Environmental incidents resulting in injury or non-compliance.

  • Raise and report Unsafe conditions following the existing means and procedures.

  • Raise and report unsafe behaviors following the existing means and procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Successful candidate will demonstrate mechanical aptitude and Leadership decision making skills.

  • English literacy required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine production records and log sheets.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Skilled in basic use of computers.
