Cleaner- Nh

The Cleaner shall work to ensure actions reflect the company culture; work meets or exceeds company standards; values and working environment and actions reflect that as outlined by the Mill Manager and will support the execution of the safety mission at Kennebec Lumber Company. The Cleaner is responsible to keep the building free of sawdust and debris (including under the equipment) as well as emptying trash and wood waste barrels. Additionally sanitizing any high touch areas on a regular basis.

Responsibilities:

• Keep the mill floors clear of sawdust, shavings and other debris.
• Ensure that office and outside trash containers are emptied.
• Inspect and clean the eyewash station weekly.
• Ensure that waste wood boards and sawdust barrels are routinely emptied and the waste is placed in the chipper.
• Push, pull or maneuver wood waste barrel weighing 50lbs to 150lbs with a cart in a safe and ergonomic manner.
• Lock out / tag out equipment when it is not being used in order to clean in, around and under equipment.
• During winter months assist with shoveling snow around exits and spreading rock salt.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

• Safety First – Personal Protective Equipment
  1. Steel or Safety Toe footwear is required in all areas.
  2. Gloves required in designated areas – per task in mill.
  3. Hearing Protection required in all areas (Exception being inside the cab of outside machine forklifts).
  4. Eye Protection required in all areas
  5. Report all near misses and unsafe acts to Mill Manager.

1. Pedestrian awareness at all times.
2. Florescent vests and hard hats are required for all outside activity (Exception, pedestrian travel from one building to another).
3. Never walk through any overhead door that is controlled remotely (Always use access door next to overhead).
4. Familiarize yourself with the various work areas. Learn how to operate the conveyor belts and the emergency stop buttons.
5. Familiarize yourself with the various possible pinch points that are in your area.

• Physical Requirements
  1. Bend, stretch, stoop, squat & twist multiple times daily.
  2. Reach / work overhead.
  3. Stand / Walk for long periods of time.
  4. No allergies to sawdust, particles in the air (respiratory concerns)
  5. Ability to work in all weather conditions (below 0 degrees temps to over 90-degree temps).

  3. Good organizational / time management skills.
  4. Attention to detail.
  5. Additional training as required.
  6. Perform other related duties as assigned
