WAGE: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
SHIFT: 3:30 PM-3:00 AM, Overtime Currently Available, (training completed on 1st shift)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years “hands-on” production experience in a foundry finishing department preferred.
- Prior supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cut-off, grinding, blasting and inspection.
- Prior experience successfully working with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Knowledge of and experience with spreadsheets and Microsoft office products.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves regular bending and lifting; continuous standing for long periods of time; pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy parts and machines.
JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as a lead (manpower, equipment, materials etc.) in the Clean/Grind Departments to achieve agreed upon performance levels with respect to job safety, quality, production, cost, housekeeping and delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS:
Organize work for smooth operation of the Clean/Grind department through coordinating activities including:
- Enforce procedures/practices to ensure a high level of consistency and quality in the castings delivered to Pier Foundry Standard
- Verify shop orders (Shop#, Part#, P.O#, special instructions)
- Check production floor inventory daily (boxes, bags, crates, pallets, tools)
- Oversee and ensure department cleanliness ( production floor, air hoists, scales, pit belts, muller room, dump scrap bins)
- Coordinate grinding schedule priorities with Supervisor based on secondary operations and ship dates.
- Supply product to grinders, stage product for next jobs on grinding schedule
- Enter orders into grind schedule that have been completed through blast w/Supervisor
- Delete shop orders from grind schedule when completed w/Supervisor
- Weigh finished parts from blast into weigh scale log
- Verify dual verification process is completed on every order before shipment
- Organize outside staging area (bins, pallets, crates)
- Complete daily inventory of WIP log and sample bins
- Relieves employees for breaks when needed
Perform Clean/Grind department tasks in the areas of casting cleaning/finishing/grinding:
- Break off/pick out stations
- Verify paperwork
- Inspect each part for quality
- Operate wedge deck equipment/control panel
- Operate Grinding tools (grinding wheel, hand held grinders, hoists, chisels)
- Maintain and clean equipment (schedule PM’s for tools)
- Operate sorting table functions/controls
Monitor department performance for production, quality and safety standards. Immediately address issues as identified, refer to Shift Supervisor.
Provide direction and leadership to department employees under Supervisor directives
Responsible for prioritizing jobs to grinding stations per Supervisor recommendations.
