*At Securian Financial, the internal title for this position is Customer Benefit Payments Sr. Specialist.
Overview:
This role is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert on disability and supplemental health claim processing and providing support to multiple teams, other business areas, channel partners, and clients.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Communicate effectively with claimants, clients, business partners, claim specialists, and senior leadership.
- Serve as a primary resource and handle escalated claims based on policy provisions across multiple product lines and market segments.
- Coordinate customized process or reporting needs based on product and client requirements.
- Apply high level of interpersonal and customer service while providing service to business partners and clients on work that typically carries a higher risk of litigation and key channel partner retention.
- Monitor team workload and distribute claims.
- Train associates on claim processing, provide documentation and mentoring to ensure their success.
- In depth understanding of the relationship between business processes, needs, data, and market expectations to help recommend and implement process improvements.
- Perform monthly Quality Audits.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Benefit Distribution Center systems, workflows, procedures, and claim. Exceptional communication skills.
- Understanding the BDC data sources and general BDC accountabilities for reporting, privacy, security, compliance, and auditing.
- Demonstrate leadership abilities to service as a resource and mentor less experienced associates.

- Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
- Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to perform grasping tasks throughout the entire work day (examples: handwriting, grasping of equipment/machines, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, handling stacks of paper)
