Job Description*
Ingram Barge Company’s Claims Department is looking for a customer service-minded individual to join the team as a Claims Adjuster. This role will come with a large amount of responsibility from day one, including: investigating incidents and claims, analyzing risk issues and participating in the litigation process with assistance from internal and external legal counsel, and mediating and resolving claims. Ingram Barge Company is a large and dynamic organization, and the claims you’ll be asked to investigate and resolve will include significant personal injuries and illnesses, internal and external property damage, cargo damages, and larger, hybrid claims that blend all of these different claims types. This position will report directly to the Director of Claims and indirectly to Manger, Claims Operations.

What you will be doing:*
- Investigating and assisting Operations and Safety in responding to major incidents.
- Working directly with vessel associates, operations managers, customer service representatives, the Risk Department, medical providers, in-house and outside counsel, and others, to investigate and process claims, and to reduce the Company’s liability exposure.
- Collaborating with in-house and outside counsel and the rest of the Claims team to develop litigation strategy and achieve favorable outcomes in and out of the courtroom.
- Maintaining accurate and organized records for all claims handled and documenting all progress in the Claims tracking system (STARS).
- Establishing claims reserves, monitoring expenditures, and approving payment of necessary claim related expenses.
- Working with the Claims and Legal Team to continually improve our internal Claims processes to ensure that we’re delivering excellent customer service to our internal and external customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to travel up to 25% (Reserve, Port Allen, Houston) of time on short notice and work on-call weekend duty in a rotating schedule.
- All relevant work experience will be considered.
