Seeking CAT Desk Adjusters to join our team in Louisiana!

Overview:

The primary role of the CAT Desk Adjuster is to handle all matters while adjudicating a loss and presenting the claim package to the carrier for settlement. CAT Desk Adjusters must manage and coordinate vendors, field adjuster, insured representation, and other parties to ensure each claim is properly settled. CAT Desk Adjusters approve or deny coverage; therefore, they must be able to read and interpret the applicable insurance policies and endorsements, specific to each claim. The CAT Desk Adjuster will be the policyholders and the field adjuster’s primary point of contact for all loss related matters throughout the entire claim cycle.

Essential Functions: 

  • Conducts a thorough investigation, as outlined in the claim handling guidelines and best practices for their assigned client.
  • Denies, settles, or authorizes payments to property claims based on coverage, field reports, and verifiable damage.
  • Reviews and evaluates property claims for coverage and further claim handling procedures to conclude within required statutory time frame.
  • Interpret policy language and evaluate coverage issues of multiple different policies and endorsements.
  • Interviews, telephones, or corresponds with insureds, claimants, vendors, carriers, witnesses, public adjusters, attorneys, etc. to gather important information to support the claims; including proofs of loss.
  • Sets proper reserves. Addresses diaries, emails, and voicemails in a timely manner.
  • Takes recorded statements as needed.
  • Has the ability to work in multiple claims management systems at the same time.
  • Has Xactimate estimating and collaboration skills.
  • Strong insurance restoration estimating knowledge and experience.
  • Experience making coverage determinations and writing coverage determination letters.
  • Interpret policy language and evaluate coverage issues of multiple different policies and endorsements.
  • Prepares technical claim documents and correspondence.
  • Prepares report of findings of an investigation
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  


Job Requirements:

  • Two plus years of related property claim desk adjusting experience and a minimum of one year experience working as a catastrophe Desk Adjuster.  
  • Xactimate estimating experience required.
  • Guidewire experience preferred.
  • Must hold a valid claim adjusting license in the state of LA or a state that has license reciprocity with the state of LA.
  • Strong Letter Writing Skills related to policy interpretation is a must. 
  • Decision making skills and the ability to work independently.  
  • Analytical and proactive claim handling skills. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Proficient oral and written communication is a must.
  • Proficient computer & typing skills - working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures. 
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
  • Dedication to provide the policyholder an unparalleled customer service experience.
  • Be willing to work seven days a week, for twelve hours per day, during ongoing CAT operations.
  • Proficient in Xactimate including the ability to write estimates and perform collaborations.
