Job Title: Claims Assistant
Duration: 6 Months (CTH)
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid OR Fully Remote)

Job Hours: Potential phone shifts-7:30am CST-5:30pm CST

Summary:
The Claims Assistant is responsible for the completion of a variety of business and systems administrative tasks for the claims team. These activities are critical to the operations of the Claims team and in servicing our policyholders/claimants. Some tasks are to be completed on a daily basis, others are weekly or monthly activities all must be completed in accordance with service guidelines.
This role requires flexibility, the ability to work effectively with others, a high level of responsiveness, detailed oriented mindset, and strong organizational skills to complete the variety of tasks associated with this role.
Core duties include monitoring and accurately attaching e-mail/mail and faxes to claims, effective communication and collaboration with claims team to provide support for the claims process, process letters, enter detailed claim information to claim files and a variety of other administrative tasks supporting the Claims Business (adjudication) teams. Responsible for providing claim intake support including confirming coverage details, verification of eligibility details, managing missing information or details and contacting customers or employers.
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing administrative support to Claims Business (adjudication) teams.
  • Creating claims in claim system from Intake calls, emails and paper mail/fax. Sending claim related notifications via email, sending claim documents out via email and/or regular mail and setting tasks for case manager.
  • Answering customer service calls to provide basic information or routing call to claims team members for in depth inquiries.
  • Comfortable handling a variety of tasks to support the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department. These include managing department work by routing both incoming mail/faxes and electronic correspondence, and handling assigned tasks within the department s claim management system.
  • Team player that regularly communicates with colleagues on shared work distribution and daily responsibilities to streamline internal process and effectively prioritize work to complete tasks within outlined expectations.
  • Comfortable independently solving problems in gray areas without defined workflows.
  • Comfortable adjusting priorities throughout the day based on department needs or those of their teammates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Motivated by the high expectations associated with Client s reputation and target market customers.
  • Dependable, organized, and detail oriented.
  • Willing to assume responsibility for additional phone and non-phone projects based on the needs of teammates and/or business partners on all leave cases.
  • Ability to work in multiple different systems to complete tasks.

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, outlook)
  • Previous office experience 1-2 years
  • 1-2 Years of claims/insurance or financial experience preferred
  • Experience with SalesForce or Claim Advantage preferred
