Civil Superintendent

Position Overview

Direct activities of workers and manage contracts while providing on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects. Develop work plans for foundations, including excavation, backfill, dewatering, etc. Monitor progress and engineering drawing compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop work plans for foundations, including excavation, backfill, dewatering, etc.
• Monitor progress and engineering drawing compliance.
• Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of start and completion times and staffing requirement for each phase of construction based on knowledge of available tools, equipment, and various building methods.
• Coordinate scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.
• Work closely with Safety Coordinator to ensure equipment operators on electrical crews have received proper training and are qualified for the equipment.
• Daily planning and reporting of quantities.
• Ensure foundations and anchor bolts are installed in accordance with engineered drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with other discipline superintendents for the installation of underground utilities.
• Ensure all concrete, soils, and excavation work are being performed to the specifications of the project.
• Ensure excavations are documented as well as underground utility relocation and repair.
• Ensure that as-builts are documented.
• Notify “Dig-Safe” or similar agency before initiating excavation.
• Ensure all required documentation is turned over to the QA/QC department for incorporation into turnover books.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years construction experience in a Civil Superintendent position.
• Must have knowledge in the construction field and best practices.
• Strong P.C. skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
