This is a remote position.
Local municipality looking to add talented Civil Municipal Engineer to their team for the New Year!
Responsibilities:
- Utilize the principles/practices of civil engineering to complete various types of projects (areas of transportation, traffic, and environmental engineering)
- Perform a variety of engineering tasks (research, conduct field work, design)
- Work with consultants in the preparation of plans, designs, details, specifications, cost estimates, environmental documentation, and various reports for the construction, maintenance, and operation of projects
- Receive, review, examine, and prepare design projects, construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
- Coordinate projects with consultants, contractors, and others to resolve problems
- Evaluate/prepare planning alternatives, and design construction plans
- Research all required data for plan completion and integrate data pertaining to the project in hand
- Communicate issues with staff, public officials, external entities, external professionals, and the public
- Monitor/evaluate work of the Engineering Technicians and part-time engineering staff
- Mentor/train junior staff
- Handle request for information, service or complaints over the phone, via electronic or regular mail and in person or refer to the appropriate person
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in municipal, county, state, or federal engineering or engineering consulting
- PE License or ability to obtain or transfer from another state
- Familiarity with the rules/standards associated with various funding alternatives such as motor fuel tax funds, federal urban funds, etc.
- Experience with reviewing, analyzing, coordinating, and delivering small to medium scale engineering projects
- Effectively and efficiently administering programs and procedures.
- Working independently to resolve complex questions and problems
- Use knowledge of fiscal resource/contract management sufficient to assist with budget preparation and program/project execution
- Stay current with professional standards
- Knowledge of the following:
- Modern principles, practices, methods, materials, and techniques of transportation, traffic, and environmental engineering as applied to private development projects and public works, utilities, and construction projects
- Hydraulics, water supply, wastewater engineering, and drainage
- Highway standards/specifications used in public works projects applied to municipal type civil engineering projects
- Principles/practices of land surveying and mapping
- City, county, state, and federal regulations
- Project cost estimating/planning principles
- Managing a project within budget
Salary is commensurate with experience.
