One of RHL's repeat clients, a boutique Civil Litigation firm in San Diego, retained us again to find their next Civil Litigation defense attorney. We placed two people there last year who love it!
This defense attorney will be handling cases start to finish, and should have at least 3 years of Civil Litigation experience in CA. Please do not apply without this!
Responsibilities of Role:
- defense cases, 10-15 cases (25% typical auto accidents, 25% larger trucking damages, 50% premises liability/HOA matters/property disputes/med mal)
- law & motion
- ex partes, pleading challenges, discovery motions, meet & confers, motions to compel are most common
- discovery
- depositions (once up and running, they will take/defend 1-2 per week).
· Billable requirement: “The goal is 1950 but the minimum is 1800.”
· Software: Word and Adobe for drafting. Outlook for calendaring. Firm Central is used for document management and billing time.
This role offers flexible working hours and hybrid days, but the candidate should be local to SoCal (and local to San Diego if less than 5 years of experience).

o Solid understanding of CA civil codes & procedures, open to junior (3 years) or senior (15 years)
o Some depo experience
o Defense-side experience is preferred, but someone coming from the plaintiff side who wants to get into defense work may also be considered
o CA bar license
o Ability to commute to San Diego (3+x/week if 3-5 years, 1+x/week if 10+ years)
