Job Summary
Real Estate Utility Engineering Interns are placed within the Real Estate Department for a six month immersion in CSX methods and culture. Individuals complete challenging assignments that improve decision-making and ensure the safety of the railroad. Real Estate Utility Engineering internships provide an opportunity for candidates to experience what an engineering role on the railroad looks like, while allowing CSX to actively recruit tomorrow's best talent.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
Individuals play a key role in completing identified real estate projects such as
  • Provide engineering review and approval of public/private utility facility design and construction plans
  • Serve as the principle contact for engineering approval and project management for utility facilities within the assigned portfolio
  • Ensures the safety and protection of railroad assets throughout the full life cycle (i.e. engineering, construction, maintenance) of the project and facility occupancy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with public/private utility agencies in support of engineering standards compliance, contract compliance, and established safety policies
  • Maintain personal interaction with internal business partners to ensure open lines of communication and provide timely feedback
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program or recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or a related major field of study from an accredited institution
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale).
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and project management skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
Job Requirements:
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership/executive audiences
  • Work within established deadlines
  • Willing and able to work days and hours as assigned
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test
Environmental Conditions:
  • Work inside an office environment
