Job Overview:
Aptim is seeking an energetic and motivated intern to join our Engineering team. APTIM's internship program provides students with the opportunity to apply skills gained in an academic setting to challenging projects and meaningful work assignments. Interns will be paired with experienced mentors and should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, finishing their internship having gained a broad experience in various aspects of working in Environmental Remediation and Engineering. Position is supporting a large remediation project in Tooele, Utah and requires work from that location for the duration of the internship. Per Diem and lodging is provided as part of the position.
This is a temporary position.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Site/Project Civil Engineering Field Duties
- Assist with surveying (checking grade elevations)
- Perform Civil Engineering QC (material spec compliance, # compaction passes, soil quantity tracking, grade checking, etc.)
- Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures
- Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions to non-standard requests.
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline.
- Conducts field/site visits for investigation or inspection with senior personnel.
- Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
- Works on straightforward tasks using established procedures; all work will be subject to review by others
Basic Qualifications:
- Attending an accredited educational institution pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a similar field of study
- Basic HSE knowledge
- OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926 knowledge
- Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA with at least 60 hours of coursework completed
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have experience with MS Office software, including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
- Must be a self-starter, excel in time management, and work well under pressure
- Must be available to work in various settings such as in office or remotely, depending on department needs
