The Organization: The Dolores Huerta Foundation (DHF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to inspire and organize communities to build volunteer organizations empowered to pursue social justice. DHF is based in Bakersfield, California. We organize in the counties of Tulare, Fresno, Kern, and the high desert area of Los Angeles County. We are seeking community survey canvassers who have community outreach experience.

Job Summary

The Dolores Huerta Foundation is looking for a Civic Engagement Coordinator to implement civic and non-partisan voter outreach, education and mobilization programs, this role is crucial in fostering a sense of community and encouraging individuals to actively participate in Civic Engagement.

Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the development and implementation of non-partisan civic and voter engagement programs to support DHF’s base-building goals and objectives.
  2. Develop campaign plans in coordination with DHF Organizing teams as well as regional and statewide campaign partners.
  3. Recruitment, training and coordination of canvassers and volunteers.
  4. Training of canvassers and volunteers on DHF strategic plan, vision, and values.
  5. Develop and implement Dispatch Strategy to maximize outreach efforts (precincts, canvassing turf, and phone banking).
  6. Development and preparation of training and outreach materials for organizers, canvassers and volunteers.
  7. Participate in phone and field canvassing to provide necessary feedback and coaching to canvassers.
  8. Provide detailed daily reports.
  9. Represent DHF in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Ethical Practice: Models the highest level of ethics, integrity, DHF values and social responsibility.
  • Relationship Management: Demonstrated experience working with staff at all levels in a collaborative, environment; commitment and ability to promote and sustain positive workplace values and relationships
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well under pressure, remain calm and controlled when faced with difficult situations. Strives for immediate address.
