Aliados Health is a network comprised of 16 community health centers with sites in Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Contra Costa, Solano, and Yolo counties. Formed in 1994, our mission is to improve access to and the quality of care for under-served and uninsured people in our six counties. Aliados Health’s focus is to strengthen the capacity of member health centers to act as a regional network of comprehensive primary care that provides access to consistently high-quality clinical care, effective care coordination and reduces health disparities.
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Civic Engagement Project Manager is to manage our Civic Engagement program to educate and mobilize low-propensity Latino voters to vote in Sonoma County. This position will collaborate closely with community health centers (CHCs), local community-based organizations (CBOs), and statewide partners to build and implement a civic and voter engagement strategy. This position is hands-on, fast-paced, and multi-faceted, one day doing online communications, the next leading a coalition meeting, the next out in the field canvassing voters alongside our CBO partners.
Note: This position is grant funded through January 2025, which has the possibility of getting renewed by the funder.
Essential Duties
- Work closely with Aliados Health staff, CHC, CBO and statewide organizations to develop and implement Civic Engagement activities to reach patients and staff at CHCs.
- Work with local CBOs on planning and executing non-partisan voter outreach and get out the voter programs.
- Organize and lead regular meetings with our member health centers, and CBOs.
- Participate in statewide convenings in other parts of the state as needed.
- Join CBO Civic Engagement activities as part of Get Out The Vote effort ahead of elections, including canvassing and phonebanks.
- Regularly communicate progress to partner organizations and funders.
- Develop and implement media strategies, including drafting press releases and op-eds, and setting up interviews.
- Manage Town Halls ahead of elections, including facilities, technology, and marketing.
- Set up and track social media and other media ad buys ahead of Town Halls.
- Manage the creation, dissemination, and production of presentations, webinars, podcasts, photos and short videos as needed to aid in Civic Engagement and department activities.
- Make updates to the Aliados Health website, newsletter, and database as needed.
- Manage expense tracking for Civic Engagement activities to ensure grant compliance.
- Create reports to communicate with funder, staff, board, and members.
- Participate in Aliados Health internal staff meetings.
- Manage special projects or perform additional duties for the Policy & External Relations department as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent demonstrated experience in community relations, marketing, communications, politics, project management or related field is desired.
- A minimum of two years’ work experience in either campaign field operations, project management, non-profit canvassing, marketing, communications, community or voter engagement, advocacy or related roles required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of healthcare, CBO, policy and/or political environment desired.
- Project management skills, preferably in an electoral or Civic Engagement campaign, required.
- Ability to prioritize and plan diverse work activities, set goals, and meet deadlines, and independently and proactively manage workload and make decisions.
- Skills in presentation development, including creating effective slides and materials.
- Communication skills adaptable to multiple audiences, both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Office 365 and related apps such as Teams, SharePoint desired.
- Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands.
- Bilingual Spanish and English (speak, read, write) desired.
Working Conditions
- Work is hybrid, with meetings and outreach efforts spread across Sonoma County.
- Ability to travel for 3 to 4 days at a time to other parts of the state required.
- Drivers’ license and proof of auto insurance required.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, carry, drive, see, speak, keyboard, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (box of paper). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
