Job description

Requisition Number: 54951 Location: Boulder, Colorado City Boulder State Colorado Employment Type: Research Faculty Schedule: Part-Time Posting Close Date: 25-Mar-2024 Date Posted: 13-Mar-2024 Close All Job Summary Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) Education and Outreach is hiring an expedition instructor specializing in art and science education for the Girls* on Rock (GOR) summer 2024 expedition. We are looking for someone who is excited about integrating science, art, and outdoor skills, such as rock climbing and mountaineering, in a backcountry setting. The primary goal for the expedition is to foster self-confidence in participants' physical, intellectual, social, and leadership abilities while creating lifelong advocates for Earth science and wilderness stewardship.

Instructors attend training workshops and contribute to planning the curriculum and logistics, then lead the expedition itself and contribute to logistical follow-up and equipment clean up afterwards. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and training to work with minors. The ideal candidate would be located near the Front Range of Colorado but remote candidates are welcome to apply.

This position requires the candidate to be present in person in the Boulder area for the entirety of the period of July 16-29, 2024 (8am on the 16th through 6pm on the 29th). The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
