Essential Functions
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Assisting users with check-out, return, and requesting of library materials.
- Maintaining patron records and providing patrons with request status information.
- Educating patrons on how to use resources such as the catalog and their library accounts.
- Providing preliminary research assistance using AU Library Search.
- Monitoring Click & Collect requests and preparing items for pickup.
- Processing item requests for users and other departments, including Course Reserves.
- Preparing film screenings, including setup & breakdown of viewing rooms and processing materials.
- Shelving, retrieving, shifting, & transporting books and other materials as requested.
- Keeping collections organized and searching for misplaced & missing items.
- Assisting with inventory & collection management projects such as shifting, straightening & weeding.
- Maintaining consistent, proactive communication with supervisors via Microsoft Teams and email.
- Working on other assorted projects as assigned by supervisors.
- Using a wide variety of software, including the following: Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Teams, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneNote), Springshare products (LibStaffer, LibCal, LibGuides), and library management systems (Alma, possibly ILLiad/Ares).
Expected Hours of Work
- Commitment of at least 16 hours/week including one weekend shift, including the ability to work through the end of finals.
Salary
- $17.00/hour.
Required Education
- Must be a current AU Student.

- High level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality, including handling sensitive user information and monetary transactions.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, a learning mindset, and the ability to prioritize and effectively multitask in a fast-paced work environment.
- Our workflows and procedures are frequently updated, so flexibility is key.
- Ability to lift books and push carts.
- Commitment of at least 16 hours/week including one weekend shift, including the ability to work through the end of finals.
- Willingness to work morning/late evening hours.
- Although not required, the desire to work through Summer 2024 is a plus.
