Why does the job exist?
The CMS Office clerk in Santa Fe assists the CMS Medical and Public Health Social Worker(s) manage a combined caseload of children with chronic medical condition (and families). Clients are seen from Santa Fe counties and surrounding communities where there are higher than average rates of asthma, diabetes and obesity. This position is mission critical as it assists in improving access to safety net services for children with chronic medical conditions in areas of the State that have limited health care services.
How does it get done?
The clerk assists with coordinating pediatric specialty outreach clinic to facilitate access to care for children who would otherwise not be able to see a specialist. The improved health outcomes and provision of safety net services to these communities. The responsibilities include front line provision of information, office duties, data entry and scheduling for CMS and other Public Health Services. The clerk verifies Medicaid eligibility and submits billing sheets for case management and clinic billings. Direct and related client services are noted on behalf of the licensed social worker(s) and thus provide additional billable services/revenue.
Who are the customers?
This position is focused on the population of Santa Fe County. Additionally, this position supports the NE Region Health Services Team which provides direct Public Health clinical outreach and community partnerships to the population of the NE Region of New Mexico. The CMS Office clerk in Santa Fe PHO assists the CMS Medical and Public Health Social Worker(s) manage a combined caseload of 450 + children with chronic medical condition (and families).
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidate will have: Experience in customer services; Experience in an office setting; Experience with Excel and is self-motivated. Ideal candidate will be fully conversationally bilingual in English and Spanish.
Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Office, clinic and community settings, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Occasional day trip travel throughout the NE Region and on occasion to other parts of New Mexico. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
