Childbirth Educator (Prn)

Inova Health System is looking for a PRN Childbirth Educator to join the team.

The Childbirth Educator informs and empowers new and expectant parents through evidence-based perinatal health education. Provides important information (according to their area of expertise) as families prepare for birth, newborn care, and/or breastfeeding. Provides excellent educational experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Reviews class rosters and appropriately plans activities for class participants. Provides pre-natal instruction in Spanish to Spanish-speaking audience based on specified Inova Well program curriculum. Appropriately utilizes education materials and audio/visual learning aids to enhance program effectiveness.
• Responds accurately and appropriately to participant questions and issues.
• Demonstrates ability to apply research and standards as issues emerge during learning situations.
• Gathers and communicates participant and site contact feedback to the program manager.
• Obtains and returns necessary supplies, equipment in a timely manner. Completes and delivers all paperwork in a timely manner.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

• Education:  Associates Degree
• Schedule: Per Diem (PRN), 25 hours/quarter, travel to multiple Inova Cares Clinics. Flexible schedule/travel
• Certification/Licensure:  Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire; Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, ICEA, CAPPA or other Childbirth Education Certifications required upon start; If Registered Nurse do not need these certifications Licensure. (If ADN or BSN - must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia)
• Spanish language fluency required
