Description
The Department for Income Support, Division of Child Support Enforcement is looking for an enthusiastic go-getter to learn the basic casework activities in the Centralized Intake Section. Candidates should be able to learn the program, have good communication skills, and provide assistance to customers and other agencies regarding the distribution of Child Support services.
To be successful as a Child Support Specialist I, candidates should be professional, polite, courteous, and willing to meet challenges and deadlines. Should be comfortable with computers, working directly with public, and have a desire to help others.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing case data
- Assisting with case initiation
- Determining paternal and/or support order establishment steps
- Learning to provide casework assistance to contracting staff in the County Attorney offices
- Learning to interpret policies and procedures for contracting official staff, customers, and other agencies
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to work directly with the public
- Desire to help others
- Computer knowledge
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Administrative work, clerical office work, work dealing directly with the public, or experience in reviewing, monitoring, determining eligibility for, and/or administering Food Stamps, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program, Medical Assistance, Child Support, or other public assistance programs will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Performs job duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
