GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the Child Care program, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children receiving services from the agency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit clients and maintain the center at 90% capacity at all times.
  • Write grant proposals, monitor, budget, report and implement grants at least monthly or as required for new grants.
  • Implement an early childhood development program, which stimulates and sustains the social, cognitive, physical and emotional growth of children. Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of infants and toddlers in a group setting. Review and revise yearly.
  • Plan and implement summer program for ages 6-12 years.
  • Monitor program for compliance with local, state and federal regulations on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for preparing and coordinating audits with the Child Nutrition Program, DWS and Child Care as needed.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Head Start Program at YCC. Coordinate with supervisor and manager as needed.
  • Monitor Child Care budget, which includes receiving and recording daycare fees on a daily basis.
  • Prepare monthly billing for the CACFP Food Program by the 5th of every month. This includes the Child Care Center, Head Start program and DV Shelter.
  • Manage the purchase of necessary supplies and equipment for the Child Care and kitchen as needed.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for fiscal office by the 4th day of every month. Keep statistical data, including financial data, client information, on a monthly basis or as needed.
  • Assign, train and supervise staff and volunteers in the program daily and provide 20 hours of annual training on approved material to include child development in order to meet state licensing requirements.
  • Assist staff with both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practices and program philosophy on a weekly basis.
  • Supervise and train food preparation specialist and assistant on tasks relative to YCC food programs daily while ensuring the provision of nutritious meals.
  • Report poundage of food to the required agencies monthly.
  • Inform parents daily of children’s activities, progress and any changes in Child Care procedures.
  • Develop schedules, lesson plans, and coordinate field trips as needed.
  • Participate in community outreach and networking.
  • Attend leadership meeting once a week and full staff meetings every other month.
  • Update and maintain center policy manual defining procedures and processes on a yearly basis.
  • Update and maintain continuity binder on a quarterly basis.

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Industry related field preferred, or a minimum of 12 college credit hours of child development courses, and/or a current CDA or National Adminstrative Credential, or certified Child Care professional certification.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations concerning licensing of Child Care and insurance required.
  • Requires 5+ years of early childhood development experience, or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead in an early childhood development environment.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office and Google products.
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with families and other department staff.
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility.
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ability to think strategically and interact with all levels of the organization.
