Child Abuse Case Coordinator

York County Children’s Advocacy Center

Full-Time, Onsite Position

The York County Children’s Advocacy Center (York County CAC) is an independent, non-profit organization that provides a comprehensive program of forensic interviews, medical examinations, interagency coordination, and family/child advocacy and referrals for children and families affected by sexual or physical abuse.

The Child Abuse Case Coordinator Coordinator manages scheduling and coordination of all forensic interviews and forensic medical exams provided by the York County CAC. This position coordinates with agency staff, child caregivers, and team members from a multidisciplinary investigation team to schedule appointments. This position ensures high quality of care for clients, as well as strong team member communication and collaboration throughout the scheduling process.

Essential Duties:

Referral Intake

  • Receives intake of Child Abuse referrals from District Attorney’s office, reviews and assesses all referrals
  • Identifies essential information, referral type, and any discrepancies
  • Determines which referrals should be further reviewed by DA’s office, Forensic Interview Supervisor and/or MDT Coordinator prior to scheduling
  • Verifies team member involvement/assignment for each referral
  • Creates and accurately maintains electronic file & tracking sheet for each referral
  • Facilitates team communication and collaboration regarding Child Abuse referrals prior to scheduling in order to obtain most relevant, up to date information
  • Facilitates a daily agency staff meeting to review the following day’s appointments and shares any relevant information for staff
  • Facilitates staff discussion ensuring potential issues are resolved in advance, including ensuring coverage for appointments
  • Monitors case outcomes and data collection, forwards information to appropriate staff
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information and records

Scheduling & Appointment Coverage

  • Manages shared agency calendar to ensure appropriate coverage of all appointments
  • Reviews calendar for staff availability
  • Coordinates with program supervisors for scheduling
  • Blocks off times as necessary
  • Keeps calendar organized and up to date for staff reference
  • Communicates updates or conflicts with staff and team members as necessary
  • Ensures availability of forensic interviewers and forensic nurses for appointments
  • Initiates phone contact with clients in order to schedule the forensic interview/exam
  • Sends appointment confirmation and reminder communications (ie. calls, text, email)
  • Monitors changes to schedule, such as updating, rescheduling, or canceling appointments as necessary
  • Communicates changes to caregiver, team, and staff
  • Coordinates necessary coverage of waiting room supervision for all appointments occurring within our center
  • Assists with providing waiting room supervision of families and children when other staff are unavailable
  • Waiting room supervision includes providing coverage for a safe, welcoming and developmentally appropriate environment during child and family visits
  • Assists other staff with volunteer coordination & scheduling as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Must have experience in victim advocacy and/or child protective services
  • Must have experience in appointment scheduling
  • Must be comfortable working with caregivers and victims of sexual & physical abuse
  • Must demonstrate evidence of multi-tasking and strong organizational skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • Must have experience with data entry and electronic documentation in a client database
  • Must be comfortable with significant time spent making phone calls daily
  • Must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively as part of a diverse team:
  • The York County CAC works within a York County Multi-Disciplinary Team, which includes law enforcement, child protective services, victim services, District Attorney's office, mental health providers, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Child Abuse issues preferred
  • Working knowledge of CPSL law preferred
  • Working knowledge of criminal justice system preferred
  • Case coordination and assessment experience preferred
  • Successful completion of a background check, including ChildLine clearances
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Schedule:

  • Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30

Work Location:

  • Onsite/in office at York, PA 17403
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
