The American Red Cross Pacific Islands Region is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to fill the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii (with responsibility for Hawaii and Pacific Islands)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The COO will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the organization's operational functions across the Pacific Islands Region. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the mission of the American Red Cross by ensuring effective program delivery, resource management, and stakeholder engagement in a region that faces diverse challenges.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:
Operational Leadership:
  • Partner with the CEO to provide strategic direction and oversight to all operational functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement policies, procedures, and initiatives that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all HR, safety, emergency, environmental and DEI policies.

Program Management:
  • Supervise and support administrative personnel across the region to support program work in areas of disaster response and preparedness, service to the Armed Forces, volunteer services, fundraising, and community outreach.
  • Monitor program performance metrics and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.

Financial Management:
  • Acting as the Chief Financial Officer, the COO will develop and manage budgets for the Pacific Islands Region.
  • Analyze financial reports, identify variances, and implement corrective measures as needed.

Facilities and Fleet Management:
  • Oversee facilities and fleet in region, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained working environment. [Note: Facility & Fleet manager reports to COO but does not handle Pacific Islands Territories' facilities and fleet.]
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and renovations.
  • Identify and secure new office space as needed on Neighbor Islands or Territories.
  • Facilities include regional office space, storage space and warehouses.

Vendor and Contractor Relations
  • Select, negotiate with, and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors for facility-related and other services.

Team Development:
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and professional development.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff, empowering them to excel in their roles.

The salary range for this position is $122,000-130,000
Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
Candidates must live on Oahu- Daily presence at Headquarter is preferred.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum five to seven years management experience
    • Proven experience in a senior leadership role with a focus on operations and program management.
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations, particularly in the humanitarian and disaster response sector.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse teams in cross-cultural settings, driving them towards organizational goals.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
