Job Description
This position reports to the Director of Public Works and is responsible for supervision of design and Construction of public works projects, including roadway, bridge, drainage, and public facilities, and the oversight and administration of city construction standards and specifications for the Consolidated Government.
Examples of Work

• Provides leadership and support to the Engineering and Construction Management Division.
• Serves as staff to the Context Sensitive Streets Standards Committee.
• Serves as Chairman of the Subdivision Standards and Policy Advisory Committee.
• Establishes design guidelines and policies for vertical/building projects and proposed improvements to the City Right-of-Ways.
• Reviews and evaluates requests for design services RFP.
• Reviews requests for qualification submittals.
• Assists the Department of Public Works in budget preparation.
• Meets with City Council to keep them abreast of construction projects.
• Communicates clear direction, manages for results, and leads organizational change.
• Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing, and motivating employees.

• The City Engineer shall serve as staff to the Context Sensitive Streets Standards Committee set forth in Section 32.702, Ordinance Code and serve as the Chairman of the Subdivision Standards and Policy Advisory Committee.
