Here's an overview of what you will do:
The Chief Medical Officer provides hands-on leadership in conceiving, building, advancing and promoting actionable, AI driven precision health insights. Your role will bridge the gaps between Data Science, Data Engineering, Clinical Experts, and Product Development. Your contributions will be essential in developing, scaling and evangelizing computational models that deliver clinically relevant and useful products or services that contribute to healthcare improvement. You will work closely with a team of highly skilled Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists who specialize in applying deep learning and machine learning to extract insights from massive data sets.
Your responsibilities include leveraging your clinical experience and expertise in standard ontologies to collaborate with product development and data scientists to assist in feature engineering and reviewing model predictions. Provide insights I shaping data models to transform electronic health records (EHR), bio waveforms, claims, and other Real-World Evidence (RWE) sources into high-quality databases accessible for our ML pipeline. You will educate and inform current and prospective clients through participation in sales meetings, industry forums and drafting of white papers for both clinical and commercial audiences. You will also help to develop proposals for new and existing partnerships.
Detailed responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our clinical, data science, and data engineering teams to ensure clinical relevance of our data models.
- Collaborate with clinical experts in specific therapeutic areas to translate clinical knowledge into codes, logics, rules for feature engineering of ML models.
- Provide clinical and informatics expertise to inform the design, buildout, and operations of our ML/DL pipeline.
- Advise in defining data requirements and mapping process from EMR and claim data to features, risk factors, outcomes, and interventions for the ML/DL pipeline.
- Support clinical review and validation of model predictions.
- Play a key role in promoting Cogitativo by participating in industry forums and sales meetings both virtually and in-person. Deliver lectures and webinars to both commercial and clinical audiences.
- Curate and expand a network of industry commercial and clinical medical directors in health plans, self-insured employers, consulting organizations, health systems and other digital health vendors.
- Provide clinical input into partnership proposals and discussions with new and existing partners.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of data models and other product development and commercialization efforts.
Required qualifications:
- MD with at least ten (10) years of closely related clinical training.
- At least five (5) years of experience in clinical informatics, including experience with EHR and claims data, applying RWD to clinical research.
- Deep understanding of the healthcare industry, including roles of employers, health plans (commercial and Medicare), consultants and vendors.
- Deep knowledge of ontologies commonly used by health systems and payers, including ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT, LOINC, RxNorm.
- Experience with Epic and/or Cerner EHRs.
- Experience with biomarker data sets such as; clinical imaging, proteomics, metabolomics, and transcriptomics.
- Experience with waveform data such as EEG, ECG, PPG
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Epic and/or Cerner EHRs.

- Familiarity with OMOP, FHIR.
- Experience in supporting data science pipeline using EHR data to measure outcomes and report quality metrics.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and practices.
