Oakland County is hiring for a Chief Information Security Officer
What's the Role?
The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is entrusted with the critical responsibility of overseeing the IT Security & Risk Strategy. The primary objective is to safeguard critical data, assets, and infrastructure by maintaining robust cyber defenses and preparedness against current and evolving threats. Provides leadership to professional and technical staff and rolls up their sleeves working with their team.
Job Summary

  • Collaborates with CTO and other IT leads to develop and drive the organization's security architecture strategy based on priorities and industry best practices.
  • Defines, develops, and manages the organizational IT Security Operations function.
  • Manages an internal security organization and ensures alignment with Oakland County operational technology asset monitoring requirements.
  • Manages a multi-vendor team in the design, development, deployment, and support of critical security-related projects which will improve the security stance of the County.
  • Implement and manage a robust vulnerability management program to identify and address security vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities based on their potential impact on the organization's security posture.
  • Drives and expands organizational security training, awareness, and phishing through repeatable and creative initiatives across an organization of approximately 5,000 employees and contractors.
  • Provides direction and oversight on matters governing appropriate access, security, privacy, and confidentiality of employee and other sensitive personal and organizational information.

Minimum Qualifications

What do you need:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferred major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years' experience developing, designing, and executing an integrated organizational IT Security and Risk Strategy.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, GSLC, CISM or similar.
PREFERRED additional qualifications:
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a CISO or other senior level security experience
  • Fifteen plus years overall of multi-disciplined IT background with externally recognized leadership experience in IT Security.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in managing complex project plans with interdependencies between many different projects and initiatives.
  • An energetic, hands-on, enthusiastic, results-oriented executive, capable of adding significant value to the existing leadership team.
  • Ability to successfully manage and lead in a matrix environment and across various organization units.
  • Proven track record of creating successful outcomes, a collaborative and participative management style.

Overview of Employee Benefits:
