Chief Information Security Officer

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the MSD of Mt. Vernon's informaotn security program. The CISO will develop and implement strategies to safeguard district data, protect against cybersecurity threats, and ensure compliance with relevant regualtions. This position requires a strong understanding of Information Security principles, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to align security initiatives with school district goals.
Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement an effective Information Security strategy and roadmap aligned with district goals
• Protect the organization's sensitive information and critical assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse
• Enhance the organization's resilience against cybersecurity threats and incidents
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices
• Foster a security-conscious culture and promote awareness of Information Security practices across the organization
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in Information Security, including experience in leadership roles
• Strong knowledge of Information Security frameworks, such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS Controls
• Professional certifications such as SEC, NET+, or CISA
• In-depth understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and risk management principles
• Experience in developing and implementing Information Security policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g. FERPA, CIPA, etc.)
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex security incidents and investigations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
