Reporting to the Founder and CEO, the Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO) is responsible for strategic Human Capital leadership for DCA Outdoor (and its family of brands). The Chief Human Capital Officer must be an articulate leader, strategic planner, and an effective manager willing to lead a team that will enhance the working environment and provide consultation, advice, and guidance to leadership, faculty, and staff. The CHCO provides leadership for human resources activities, including recruitment, selection, and hiring activities; employee relations; total compensation management; benefits and retirement; compliance; oversight of human resource information systems; classified and unclassified tracking systems; and professional development, mandatory training, and training and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership – Provide positive Human Capital leadership company-wide in developing a culture of accountability, innovation, and growth. Act as strategic and consultative advisor to senior leadership regarding key organizational, management, and personnel issues.
  • Management – Create a clear, well-defined, and executed roadmap of Human Capital management company-wide while ensuring alignment between goals, departments, and available resources.
  • Resource Planning - Plan, develop, direct, implement, and evaluate the organization’s Human Capital function, assuring the highest level of efficiency and consistency across all brands.
  • Execution - Translate the company’s vision into Human Capital and strategic operational plans. Drive organizational effectiveness and support the CEO on all major initiatives.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Direct the Human Capital department in developing and implementing strategic Human Capital plans in recruitment, employee life cycle, benefits, compensation, safety, learning, compliance, visa programs, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and performance management.
  • Direct all compliance functions, including conformity with state and federal laws, response to EEOC complaints, and all other legal matters
  • Implement and manage compliance efforts with all the employment laws and regulations that govern the private companies relating to all aspects of the employee life cycle
  • Lead the HR team in creating an inviting and cohesive employee experience
  • Direct the talent acquisition and recruitment processes company-wide
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors to ensure the most efficient service provision
  • Own annual benefits review and negotiation process with benefits broker
  • Direct the people component of future acquisitions
  • Utilize data and metrics to solve Human Capital issues
  • Ensure that the organization’s values are reflected in people-oriented decisions
  • Develop and manage budgets for the department

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor industry trending in Human Resources best practices
  • Conduct an annual review of state and federal laws to ensure continued company compliance
  • Provide insightful crisis management when required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline
  • Required: 5-10 years of experience in a Sr. Leadership position
  • Required: 5+ years of experience in Human Resources or related discipline
  • Highly Preferred: Bi-lingual (Spanish/English), multi-cultural
  • Preferred: Experience in human resources that includes designing and implementing strategic programs, performance metrics, information technology, and employee life cycle programs
