Granted annually to an individual whose actions have had an exceptional impact on preserving human life and advancing humanitarian causes, the Aurora Prize Laureate is honored with a $1 million award and has the unique opportunity to continue the cycle of giving by nominating and supporting organizations that help people in need. The Aurora Humanitarian Initiative has benefited over 3.2 million people through 427 projects in 56 countries to date.
The Aurora Prize Selection Committee includes renowned human rights and humanitarian leaders including Mary Robinson, Ernesto Zedillo, Samantha Power, Leymah Gbowee, Shirin Ebadi, Hina Jilani, Bernard Kouchner, Dele Olojede, and George Clooney, among others.
In addition to the Prize, Aurora organizes and promotes the Aurora Dialogues, a platform for the world’s leading humanitarians, academics, philanthropists, business leaders, and civil society to come together for a series of insightful discussions about some of today’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
