Position Summary
As a key member of the Company Leadership Team the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company.The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the cooperative.This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, product costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, member relationships and partnership compliance, and private and institutional financing.
The CFO reports to the President/CEO of Agri-Mark and is a key position to the entire senior staff.The Board of Directors meets monthly, and the CFO presents the financial picture of the company as it relates to the current state of manufacturing and sales.
There are approximately 40 total employees in the Finance and Accounting Department
Position Responsibilities

• Leads monthly finance presentations to the Board of Directors (two full-day meetings)
• Maintains CoBank banking relationship and bank covenants compliance
• Oversees ongoing cash management and projections on future profits
• Directs capital spending/approvals
• Provides leadership for inventory management (65 million pounds of cheese aging), monthly inventory/manufacturing production, and inventory reconciliation for the three years sales projections
• Directs new product costing, gross margin reporting by product and customer, annual budgeting process and presentation (financial piece), and annual external audit
• Maintains the hedging activity and commodity trading activity of the cooperative to ensure Agri-Mark is well positioned to capitalize on movements in milk pricing and commodity product pricing
• Using financial modeling develops a framework to forecast five-to-ten-year projections for the cooperative
• Participant on the Board of Directors Equity, Audit, and Per Diem Committees
• Manages Member equity refunds (retirement, death, go out of business) and reinvestment programs, along with making recommendations on profit distributions
• Directs the merger and acquisition activity of the corporation, both in terms of strategy and appropriate pricing of potential acquisitions or joint venture opportunities
• A key member of strategic and tactical planning teams (Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing) looking to optimize current profits and invest in parts of the company that drive the largest long-term returns
• Provides recommendations to the CEO to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
• Evaluates and advise on the impact of long-range planning, the introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action
• Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek a full range of business solutions
• Provides executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities
• Manages the process for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation, and reporting to the cooperative
• Prepares the annual budget, analyzes operating results, and compares to results of the prior year and forecast
• Coordinates all audit activities
• Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensures compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
• Directs and oversees all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization
• Oversees, develops, and manages direct staff

• 10 + years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles within the dairy industry and/or food and beverage manufacturing
• Broad finance experience, including gathering and evaluating financial information and making actional recommendations to senior leadership
• Experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting), banking relations, hedging, acquisitions, and joint ventures for a complex food-related business
• Proven history of achievement
• Solid working knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Financials, Compliance, and Regulatory Affairs
• In-depth understanding of commodities
• Strong interpersonal skills that foster and strengthen the Management Team
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
• The ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at multiple locations and/or remote is essential
• Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-oriented

• Prior experience in a cooperative setting
• Experience in ERP implementation
• Experience working with FDA and USDA

• Minimum of a BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited university
• MBA and/or CPA preferred
