Mountain View Co-op is Montana's largest locally-owned agricultural cooperative operating in 15 communities throughout the state with $200-$250M in sales and 250 employees. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing all financial activities for Mountain View Co-op (MVC). The CFO must maintain a positive and cooperative attitude that promotes teamwork, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. The CFO must embrace and exhibit MVC’s philosophy and culture of customer service. This position reports directly to the CEO and oversees a staff of 10-12 people.
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and maintain a financial strategy in line with the MVC mission, vision, and values.
- Establish and maintain a positive experience for MVC customers, clients, and vendors, through professional interpersonal interactions.
- Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
- Oversee the activities of the corporate accounting department for the preparation and timely distribution of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, and annual audits and annual budgets.
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
- Assist MVC's leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process.
- Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expense; make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
- Study long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth in sales and market share.
- Oversee investment of funds and work with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion.
- Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, finance, or related field
- Demonstrated progressive supervisory experience (3+ years)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Knowledge and experience in cooperative-specific equity management
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- 10 or more years of financial management experience
