The Chief Engineer will be a hands on leader for the engineering and maintenance department. The Chief Engineer will develop an intimate knowledge of the hotel’s physical structure and its internal components and keep them functioning. Managing the engineering staff will include training, setting quality standards and leading the day to day operations. The Chief Engineer’s duties will include:
- Develop a calendar for preventative maintenance.
- Manage engineering staff and department in the day to day operations.
- Work with vendors to get best pricing and ensure good quality of services.
- Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
- Ensure hotel compliance with OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT and other engineering related regulations.
- Ensure that all projects, routine maintenance, repairs, and replacement projects are completed in a timely fashion and according to brand standard.
- Ensure that all life safety equipment and systems are inspected, tested and certified per code and any applicable brand standards
- Assist the GM in creation on the hotel’s capital projects plan.
Desired Qualification for the Chief Engineer
- Three to five years’ experience as a Chief Engineer in a hospitality related environment
- Basic repair, HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, boiler operation and general maintenance skills required.
- Thorough knowledge of the main craft trades including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, boiler technician and refrigeration/HVAC.
