Qualifications
- Current USCG Merchant Mariner Credential – Chief Engineer
- Current USCG Medical Certificate
- TWIC
- Driver's License
- T-HUET (preferred)
- Safegulf/Rig Pass (preferred)
Responsibilities
The Licensed Engineer's job is to safely and efficiently perform the general and preventative maintenance of the vessel's mechanical and electrical equipment so as to ensure the vessel is seaworthy and operational at all times and to limit downtime to an absolute minimum. The Licensed Engineer is also responsible for:
- ensuring that all fuel, liquid and bulk transfers are performed in a safe and efficient manner
- ensure circulation of liquid mud and fluids
- document liquid transfers / inventory records of tanks / fluids
- housekeeping duties in the engine room / tank room
- assist the deck crew (Able Bodied Seaman and Ordinary Seaman) in the performance of their duties when requested to do so.
