Applications Engineer Co-op, Single-Use & Integrated Systems R&D (USA)
Your Role:
MilliporeSigma has an exciting opportunity for a 6-month Co-op rotation within the Applications team under the BioProcessing Single-Use & Integrated Systems R&D organization! Our team drives successful industry innovation and product development through focused customer interactions, hands on experimentation, and curating thought leadership in our field. We are looking for an Applications Engineer Co-op to join our team for the spring semester to help advance our modeling capabilities within product development processes.
In this role, you will work with cross functional teams to learn and apply computational fluid dynamic modeling (CFD) for validation and support of product development. Your primary responsibility will be to build bioprocessing equipment models within a CFD software, test and validate specific use cases, and provide guidance on product development direction based on results. This position is based in our Bedford, MA campus.
- Liaise with a team of scientists and engineers supporting innovative activities in the upstream bioprocessing space, with a focus on computational modeling
- Critically assess new technologies for ease of use, alignment to experimental data, and validity of results
- Generate simulations that helps answer key questions, drives design decisions, and establishes best practices
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate student pursing a Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biology, Biotechnology, or other science/engineering discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
- Biopharmaceutical industry experience and/or experience planning, conducting, documenting, and analyzing data outputs from modeling simulations
- Experience/knowledge of bioreactor processing parameters and design
- Excellent problem solving, & analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, vendors, and managers
- Motivated, team-oriented, and enjoy exploring/assessing innovative bioprocess modeling software to demonstrate business value and define product development direction
