Chemical Quality Control Lab Technician

In partnership with our chemical manufacturing client, we are seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to be based in Gastonia, NC. The Lab Technician will be responsible for the general operations of the Quality Control Laboratory, including sample analysis, recording/storing data, lab equipment and maintenance and general housekeeping.
You will:

• Test incoming raw materials, in process samples, and finished goods
• Operate laboratory analytical equipment
• Perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Conduct Out of Specification (OOS) lab result investigations
• Record, store test data in SAP and TotalChrom
• Use good documentation practices (ALCOA) recording data and results
• Use computers in all aspects of the laboratory operation
• Communicate information to manufacturing areas and stakeholders
• Conduct general housekeeping in the Quality Control Laboratory

• a high school diploma or GED
• 5 years experience in the coatings or chemical manufacturing industry with chemical and physical testing
• basic math skills, reading comprehension, and ability to communicate with others
• basic computer skills
• ability to lift 45 pounds, climb stairs, and move gas cylinders short distances

• SAP and/or TotalChrom experience
• 2 years college chemistry or Associates Degree in Chemistry or science

• Shift:
  • During training: M-F, 8 AM - 4 PM
  • Following training: M-Th, 6 PM - 4 AM
• 6 month contract with possible extension, could convert to permanent role based on availability and performance
