Tesla’s Battery Metals and Materials group is looking for a highly motivated Chemical Operator to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Scaling the production of battery metals and closing the loop with recycling encompass some of the greatest engineering challenges of our time. You will assist in the day-to-day operation pilot facilities.
Chemical Operators will focus on 2-3 pilot operations during their shift and provide data to senior operators or engineers. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, be safety conscious, display attention to detail, be adaptable, have good communication skills and be able to work in a team-based environment. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently operate equipment necessary as a Chemical Operator. This position is responsible for operating equipment, performing quality control testing, product packaging and loading/unloading finished goods and raw material.
- Communicate with senior Chemical Operator and team members regarding safety, production, quality, and operational issues
- Conduct pilot plant runs/campaigns in accordance with all safety and standards by following written and verbal work instructions
- Follow procedures to safely and efficiently operate equipment related to the manufacturing of chemicals
- Use equipment and instrumentation to monitor pressure, temperature, and other conditions
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform quality control testing as required
- Perform calibrations on equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Complete required preventive maintenance
- Quantifiable lab or pilot experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, related field, strong experience in development settings, or equivalent
- Climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending and lifting
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators, for extended periods of time
- Pass pulmonary function tests and physical exam for respirator use
