Chemical Manufacturing Technician

Bemana is searching for a Chemical Manufacturing Technician. Our client is looking for a highly motivated new member of the team to charge forward with creating and executing research & development plans. These plans are to gain code approvals and certifications for the treatment of new wood species to add to our fire-retardant production roster. This person will be highly involved in the ongoing burn testing of treated product per international regulations and will be actively monitoring quality control.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Control the research and development of new treatment processes

· Oversee quality control program

· Inventory, organize & proof raw materials for testing

· Follow ICC, QAI & Intertek regulations, comply with code and testing requirements for new and existing processes

· Operate test treatment system and guide implementation into the production system of successful new processes

· Maintain highly detailed laboratory records

· Monitor batch production & analyze finished products

· Operate and calibrate analytical scale, moisture analyzers, pH meter, refractometer

· Maintain momentum while pivoting between working closely with a small team and working alone

· Organize and maintain laboratory & laboratory equipment

· Drive across US/Canada border to the parent company production plant in Maple Ridge, BC for monthly checks on operations and quality control

Qualifications & Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree preferred

· Chemistry or science background preferred

· Valid passport & the legal ability to travel into Canada

· Valid driver's license & access to vehicle

· Ability to lift & carry up to 30 pounds, climb stairs/ladders & stand for long periods

· Highly organized & independent, detailed record keeping, high attention to detail

· Great verbal & written communication skills

· Comfortable operating mechanical & industrial equipment

· Basic math skills

· Computer skills including experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams

· Ability to quickly learn & retain information including detailed testing requirements, approval processes, plant operations, kiln drying process

· Agreement to follow strict safety protocols in place for work with chemicals

· Agreement to sign Confidentiality Agreement due to the proprietary information that will be shared
