JOB FUNCTION:
Directly supports plating supervisor with day to day operation of the plating line. Plans and executes engineering tasks pertaining to bath control and maintaining parts quality. Areas included, but not limited to, bath control, defect analysis, lab analysis, document control, inventory, environmental impact, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze defective parts and react to non-conforming conditions to ensure part quality based on department expectations, utilizing experimentation, and multiple laboratory trials and equipment.
- (1stshift) – Directly conducts specific bath control testing to ensure bath quality within a set period of time. Testing includes hull cell analysis and interpretation, daily STEP and Pore Count check, and pre-plate resistivity checks.
- (2ndshift) – Directly leads tank renewal process and carbon treatment directly or through the use of subordinates by evaluating data and making recommendations or approvals of necessary actions or renewals (hits).
- Reacts to correct non-conformance activities as reported/identified by other members of the plating technical department pertaining to bath control. Activities include, but not limited to, chemical additions, anode adjustments, rinse tank adjustments, adjustments to incoming water, temperature adjustments, parts quality analysis/spec testing, etc.
- Directly complete bath control tasks in the event of technical operator absence. Duties include, but not limited to, pH control and adjustment, daily Nickel, Copper, and Tri-Chrome Lab Analysis, water quality check, filtration check and replacement, etc.
- Assists in direct counts for chemical and equipment inventory control.
- Reviews research, testing, quality control, environmental control, and other operational reports to ensure quality standards, efficiency and schedules are met.
- Prepares reports and technical papers.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
